His wife filed a complaint which said Gowin sent her a threatening text message, saying "her animals and her son would be euthanized." Eleven days after the text message, on March 16, the warrant states Gowin sent her a picture of "her cat lying with his head in a pool of blood." The document states Gowin has a "cache of swords and knives at his home."Īccording to the court documents, Gowin went to the Bullitt County Sheriff's office and told an officer he had warrants and an EPO "he needed to be served." Gowin is charged with torture of a dog or cat and terroristic threatening, both misdemeanors. Seven years passed before Gowin's name appeared on a warrant for his arrest in March 2011. He received credit for education, good behavior, and for the time he had spent in jail. According to the Kentucky Department of Corrections, Gowin served about 18 years before he was released from Eastern Kentucky Correctional Complex in 2004. In 1985, a LaRue Circuit Court jury found Gowin guilty of murder.
